WERK WITH BROADWAY
(BE MORE CHILL AND WICKED)

July 8-12, 2019 - July 22-26, 2019

I had the honor of being accepted into several intensives in New York City offered by Miles Sternfeld, Barb Heller, Morgan James, Natalie Weiss and Jamibeth Margolis. During the first week I had the opportunity to participate in three master classes instructed by George Salazar (Where I sang Oh! Darlin by the Beatles), Joel Waggoner, and Tiffany Mann. The second week brought an additional three master classes instructed by Gina Claire and Natalie Weiss (I sang Another Life from Bridges of Madison County and from this I got a lesson with Natalie), Caroline Bowman, and Derek Klena. At the end of each week we participated in a mock audition with an agent and were provided with a professional critique of our audition. It was an amazing opportunity and experience to receive instruction from such accomplished artists.

FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY MTI

July, 2018

In July of 2018 I was accepted and attended a three week musical theatre intensive at Florida State university. During my time there I had the opportunity to sing new rep, dance for hours every day, perform multiple mock auditions, learn choreography from the dance captain of Matilda the Musical, and perform in a culminating showcase. We got to work with the staff of the musical theatre program at FSU and a several of their prestigious Theatre Program alum. I can not overstate the amount of knowledge this program gave to me.

SHAKESPEARE STUDY AT THE RSC

June, 2018

During the summer between my Junior and Senior years at Thornton Academy High School, the Theatre Department took the Thornton Academy Players to England for 10 days to study Shakespeare. During our time there we had the opportunity to tour the Globe theatre and speak with actors who were currently performing at the Globe. We attended performances of Hamlet and Two Nobel Kinsmen. We were also challenged with preparing a scene which we would later perform in the garden at Shakespeare's birthplace next to the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in Stratford-upon-Avon. We attended classes at the RSC on costuming, projection, and phrasing.  We were fortunate to be accompanied on this trip with a TA  instructor whose many credentials included an M.A. in Shakespeare Studies: Text and Performance from the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon through the University of Birmingham. This intensive, which was apex applied learning, enriched me with a much deeper understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare.
